The expedition aims to observe representative wildlife species of the Morro de Calzada Ecosystem Conservation and Recovery Area and the surrounding area of Moyobamba, which is home to the endemics Painted Manakin (Machaeropterus eckelberryi), Black-bellied Tanager (Ramphocelus melanogaster), San Martin Titi Monkey (Plecturocebus oenanthe), Illiger’s saddle-back tamarin Monkey (Leontocebus illigeri), and other species of interest such as Rufous-crested Coquette (Lophornis delattrei), Rufous-sided Crake (Laterallus melanophaius), Zimmer's Antbird (Sciaphylax castanea), Burnished-buff Tanager (Stilpnia cayana), and Stygian Owl (Asio stygius), among others.
