After 2 hours, having passed the town center of Santa Eulalia (lower area of the basin), we start birding where highlights are Great Inca-Finch, Andean Condor, Black-necked Woodpecker, Peruvian Sheartail, among the most important.

We arrive at lunchtime to the town of Huachupampa, where our lunch is waiting for us and also where we will settle in for the night.

After settling in the lodge in the afternoon we begin the search for the Rufous-breasted Warbling-finch, and we also observe other species such as Bronze-tailed Comet, Rusty-bellied Brushfinch, Pied-crested Tit-Tyrant, Rufous-chested Tanager, Andean Tinamou, among the most prominent.

Overnight is in local lodging in the village of Huachupampa with basic services.

The second day of the expedition, we depart very early after breakfast to a queñua forest where we will have as main objective the White-cheeked Cotinga, Rusty-crowned Tit-Spinetail, Striated Earthcreeper and Black Metaltail, endemic species associated to this ecosystem. Other species of interest in the area are: Striped-headed Tororoi, Cordilleran Goldfinch, d’Orbigny’s Pitajo, Giant Cone-billed Woodpecker, Buff-breasted Earthcreeper, among others.

In the afternoon, after a quick picnic outdoors we continue on our route and continue ascending in altitude, reaching puna ecosystems, an area of observation of species such as the White-bellied Cinclodes, Puna Tinamou, Olive-bellied Thornbill, among the most important ones.

The overnight is in local lodging in the town of San Mateo with basic services.

On the third and last day, after breakfast we start our activities in the area of Marcapomacocha where we search mainly Junin Canastero and Diademed Sandpiper-Plover. In addition, we will be able to observe other very interesting species of the puna ecosystem such as the Puna Snipe, Black-breasted Hillstar, among the most important ones.
